The findings, in context.
Aging class is useful for organizing a comparison, but it is not a substitute for taste or production data. Barrel type, prior use and maturation conditions may matter; this seed dataset does not quantify those effects. A stated minimum and an exact duration are different facts. Keeping them separate avoids false precision in filters and comparisons.
Key findings
- 01
The CRT maturation guidance identifies a minimum of two months in wood for Reposado.
- 02
Añejo requires at least one year of maturation, and Extra Añejo at least three years.
- 03
A legal minimum does not tell you a particular product's exact time in barrel, barrel history or sensory intensity.
- 04
Casa México Añejo states at least 12 months in American oak, while its Reposado page does not state an exact duration.
Aging class minimums
Minimum maturation · months
Class minimums are not exact product aging durations. See source-translation limitation in the briefing.

Methodology & data sources
A source-based reading of the regulator's maturation paragraph, checked against the explicit disclosures on the Casa México Reposado and Añejo pages. The CRT English page has an inconsistent Reposado row elsewhere; this note uses its maturation paragraph and identifies that limitation rather than repeating the contradictory row. Months are converted from stated years where appropriate.
Market and buying implications
Ask for product-specific aging disclosures when those details matter to a buying decision. Treat oak-led producer notes as descriptions, not measured intensities. When comparing categories, choose an intended use first instead of assuming the oldest expression is the best.
